We don't want to take away the history of the Square, so some elements of the Square are to be retained such as the two flagpoles facing the Council House, the two bronze urns, and the eight remaining lamp posts. These features will be renovated and relocated in suitable locations around the Square.

The buildings that make up Long Row are a mix of architectural styles and materials such as red brick, stone, timber beams, sandstone and white limestone, with the familiar landmark Debenhams being made of Portland Stone. Our design introduces these colours throughout so that it naturally fits into the surrounding environment.

We will source high quality robust materials that reflect the importance, purpose and location of the Square. As such, the materials will be slip resistant granite for the heart of the Square and locally sourced natural limestone for the steps and seating terraces. Finally, bedding and planting opportunities will be provided so that Nottingham in Bloom can continue to create diverse displays throughout the year.
